Alaafin Replies Governor Seyi Makinde Over Alleged Consultation

The Palace said the attention of the Alaafin was drawn to a statement credited to Governor Makinde.

The Governor reportedly claimed he consulted three traditional rulers in Oyo State.

They include the Alaafin of Oyo, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, and the Soun of Ogbomoso.

According to the Palace, such a meeting never took place at any time.

The Alaafin also did not hold discussions with the other traditional rulers mentioned.

No Endorsement Of Rotational Chairmanship — Palace

The Palace stressed that the Alaafin never endorsed rotational chairmanship among the three monarchs.

It added that the monarch made no categorical statement supporting such an arrangement.

This clarification directly contradicts the Governor’s public claim.

The Palace emphasized that the position of the Alaafin remains unchanged.

Oyo Council Of Elders Already Submitted Official Memo

The statement revealed that the stance of the Alaafin and the Oyo community was formally documented.

That position was conveyed through a memo submitted to Governor Makinde.

The memo was delivered by the Oyo Council of Elders.

The Palace said the document clearly outlines their views on the Obas Council leadership.
