The National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (NUBIFIE), this morning invaded the Head Office of Fidelity Bank Plc on Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos over non-payment of staff retirement benefits and emoluments.

The labour leaders were seen scattered around within and outside the bank demonstrating with a slogan that Nnamdi Okonkwo led bank should attend to the workers’ plight.

They promised that the picketing would continue until the bank’s management accede to this demand.

Ex-staff were seen in their tens with labour leaders with the police stationed to maintain peace and order.

“We want to appreciate the police for maintaining peace, we are not here to destroy any property, we are not here to fight but we are here to express our displeasure over the management of Fidelity Bank not showing a human face to what they are doing to workers.

They just sack workers without recourse to what they supposed to do. They wave workers they say go away without giving them a kobo.”

“We are here this morning, not because of the people they have sacked but because of the people that are still working, it is the same way they sack them they are going to sack you. We are here because of you, we are fighting because of you…Enough is enough. No pay no work”
