Chelsea fans react with anger and disbelief after a 0-2 home defeat by Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 24 October 2026. Spurs won through a Mike Penders own goal and a late strike from Mathys Tel. Cole Palmer was also sent off. As a result, Chelsea’s run of successive wins came to an end.
Tottenham struck in the 77th minute, when Penders punched a corner into his own net. It was his first Premier League start. Palmer then collected a second yellow card and was sent off late in the second half. Soon afterwards, Tel added a second goal. In the end, Tottenham had 69 per cent of possession and 11 shots to Chelsea’s six.

Fans took to social media to vent. One fan joked that the result suited the betting companies. Another criticised the team selection, asking why Danny Welbeck stayed on the bench all game. Meanwhile, others groaned when team news showed that Joao Pedro was missing from the squad. Some fans still defended Penders and called him a promising goalkeeper.
Many fans also questioned Palmer’s discipline. He reportedly clashed with a Spurs midfielder before picking up two yellow cards within minutes. Gary Neville said on Sky Sports that Palmer had lost his head. Consequently, Palmer faces a suspension.
The result also carries extra sting because of the home record. VAVEL notes that Spurs had not won at Stamford Bridge since April 2018. The win was Tottenham’s second in a row, following a 3-1 victory over Coventry. Chelsea, in turn, face Manchester United at home on 31 October.
