Datti Baba-Ahmed on Peter Obi defection – Former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has openly criticised his former political ally,
Peter Obi,
over his reported defection to the NDC.

While expressing his dissatisfaction, Baba-Ahmed stated that although he disagrees strongly with the policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he finds Obi’s decision difficult to justify.

He argued that Obi benefited from the Labour Party’s platform and should have remained to resolve internal challenges rather than walking away.

“As much as I don’t believe and dislike what APC has been doing against Nigeria, someone who got the Labour Party ticket so easily should have stayed back to fix the problem of the party, however difficult it was,” Baba-Ahmed said.

Furthermore, he questioned Obi’s leadership philosophy, referencing past remarks allegedly made by the former Anambra State governor.

“I read and watched in the news, here’s my former leader and my boss whom I believed in so much saying wherever there’s a quarrel, he’ll walk away. So there’s a quarrel in Nigeria today, he will walk away? These are the things that don’t add up,” he added.

His comments have sparked renewed debate among political observers, especially within the Labour Party, where internal disagreements have continued to shape public perception ahead of future elections.

Meanwhile, supporters of Obi have pushed back against the criticism, insisting that political realignments are sometimes necessary for strategic progress and national interest.

As the situation unfolds, analysts believe the development could significantly influence Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
