The group identified as the Waziri Atiku Political Family and Associates (WAPFA) has called on the Federal Government to urgently dialogue with the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to resolve the weeklong strike action embarked upon by the Doctors to save the health sector in Nigeria.
The statement made available to SOJ WORLDWIDE (www.sojworldnews.com) signed by the Spokesperson of WAPFA, Dr. Toyin Komolafe also condemn the harrassment of the Press.
Komolafe urged the Federal Government as a matter of urgency to resolve the lingering crisis in the health sector to save the lives of the poor masses in Nigeria and the negative impact of their action it has created.
He urged the Federal Government to urgently address the germaine issues raised by the Doctors and also withdraw the suit instituted against the Association.
He emphasized the need for the Federal Government to honour all the agreements reached in the past and now in the interest of justice and harmony.
He decried a situation that compels our doctors to begin to seek greener pastures outside the shores of our land thereby crippling our health sector.
A case in hand was the recent mass interview by the Saudi Arabian Government with our Resident Doctors seeking greener pastures for better prospects and renumerations where their professional expertise would be appreciated and valued.
The statement also berated the Federal Government for attempting to gag the press and stiffle Freedom of Speech as seen in its alleged attempt to close down Channels TV which is widely reputed to be a very objective media platform.
“We must not return to the stone age”, the statement concluded.
