Opposition Accuses Enugu Governor of Declaring War on Dissent, Alleges National Plot to Rig 2027
A leading opposition voice has accused Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah of declaring war on the opposition. He also alleged a wider plot to suppress dissent ahead of 2027. The speaker made the claims in a video message after an incident in Enugu. He described the situation as an Enugu opposition crackdown that “must end immediately.”
According to the speaker, supporters of the opposition party’s Enugu State candidate were trying to hold campaign activities. Security operatives reportedly barricaded the roads and blocked them. Moreover, he said shots were fired at the supporters. “One of the persons who was shot is dead,” he claimed, citing reports. Sojworldnews could not independently confirm the death or the shooting.
The speaker then turned his fire on Governor Mbah. He accused the governor of being ready to harm his own people in order to please the president. Furthermore, he questioned why Mbah would pursue the opposition after the legal disputes that followed his election. In his view, the governor should instead prove to Enugu residents that he can improve their lives. “Shame on you,” he said.
However, the speaker insisted that the problem goes far beyond Enugu. He alleged that opposition members cannot hold campaign meetings or display posters in the state. He also claimed they cannot distribute campaign materials. Consequently, he described the Enugu opposition crackdown as part of a national pattern. According to him, a directive has gone out from Abuja to governors to ensure that no opposition survives in any state.
The speaker went further and alleged that governors are expected to deliver elections for President Bola Tinubu. In return, he said, the president expects others to help produce favourable results. Nevertheless, he warned that the 2027 contest will not follow the usual script. “It will not be business as usual,” he said. He also argued that the ruling party cannot win a free and fair election.
He then issued a direct warning to the security agencies. He called on the Director-General of the Department of State Services and the Inspector-General of Police to act. Moreover, he urged the president to call his governors to order. “Nobody has the monopoly of violence and madness,” he declared. He added that the opposition has the numbers if it ever chose that path, because the people are not with the ruling party.
Additionally, he accused the authorities of unequal treatment. He said security agencies handled opposition members differently in the north a few days earlier. Today, he claimed, they are shooting at opposition supporters in the south-east. He asked why the same standard does not apply in every part of the country.
The speaker closed with a plea for calm and a call to action. “In your desperation to hijack power without the people, do not burn this country,” he said. He also stated that “there was Nigeria before APC and there will be Nigeria after APC.” Finally, he urged opposition members across the country to unite. “The power of the people is greater than the criminals in power,” he said, adding that Tinubu must go in 2027.
Neither Governor Mbah nor the police have responded to these claims in the material available to Sojworldnews. The statement also contains allegations against the president that remain unproven. Therefore, readers should treat all claims here as the speaker’s own. Sojworldnews will update this report as reactions emerge.
