The Interview

SOJ WORLDWIDE: How would you rate the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in close to three years in office?

MASILO:  To God be the glory for the present Governor of Osun State, H.E. Ademola Adeleke. He has proven me wrong from my last action of suing him at the Federal High Court, Osogbo, Osun State.

Initially, I believed he could not perform well due to certain perceptions about his educational background.

However, God has anointed him, and that is the secret to his performance, coupled with the availability of funds that have tripled, if not more, compared to what previous administrations received.

This attests that H.E. Ademola Adeleke is a lucky and ordained man to be the Governor of Osun State. If God says yes, nobody can say no.

In my view, Mr. Governor is a good performer. However, if our party, the BOOT Party, and our candidate are given the chance to steer the wheel of leadership in the state, we would achieve better results than him, leveraging the boost in resources available to the state and improving our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

SOJ WORLDWIDE:  The Governorship election is around the corner; how prepared are you and your party, BOOT Party?

MASILO:  Yes, the Governorship Election slated for 8th August 2026. In our party, known as BOOT Party in Osun State, we are fully preparing for this forthcoming election. Some credible prospective Governorship aspirants, both near and far, are already indicating their interests to contest on our platform.

When we get to the bridge, we shall know how to cross it. These sets of persons who have shown interest are all well-qualified, and whoever emerges, I am confident that the Osun people shall embrace them and vote our BOOT Party to govern the state come 2026.

SOJ WORLDWIDE:  Sir, are you not worried that all the 30 Local Governments in Osun State have been in a state of coma since February 2025 as a result of legal tussle between the two leading political parties, APC and the PDP? What do you have to say about this?

MASILO:  Not only am I worried, but I am also disappointed in the court matter.

In one of my television interviews recently, I made it clear that the blame isn’t on Mr. President but the Judiciary because it’s based on the rule of law.

Mr. President will not take money from his personal purse to fund Osun State Local Governments. The judgments were not perfect according to my own belief.

They shouldn’t sit on the fence or leave a lacuna in their judgments, which both parties are trying to capitalize on and get us into this quagmire. It would have been best if they could expatiate on which elections follow the rules of law.

These two parties have different points on their arguments on adequate notice of local government elections of at least 90 days. APC was claiming that the Osun State Assembly enacted a bill that reduced the 90 days’ notice.

Although, where there is a clash of law between the states and the federal government, the National Law supersedes State Laws. Based on this, the Osun State House of Assembly enacted a bill; H.E. Oyetola-led government held their Local Government elections.

It would be recalled that H.E. Oyetola’s administration had previously given 90 days’ notice of elections prior to the Governorship Elections in 2022, but the elections were not held for reasons best known to him then. PDP also gave one good year of notice of elections, more than 90 days of Electoral Acts.

This present Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mamud Yusuf, a few weeks ago, stated that any local government elections that didn’t give adequate 90 days of notice of elections is unconstitutional.

Based on this, the law is an axe. The Judiciary of Nigeria, led by Justice Kekere Ekun, should look into this because we are writing history.

Reference will be made to her tenure on whatever happens within the judiciary when she is in charge. I urge her to peruse this case and strike out the right cord at the right time.

The judgment must be clear enough by giving direct and exact ruling. Stipulate which of the two administrations (H.E. Gboyega Oyetola & H.E. Ademola Adeleke’s administration) is supposed to be on the affairs of Osun State Local Governments administration lawfully.

People are just blaming Mr. President Tinubu; it wasn’t him we should blame; it is supposed to be the Judiciary because that is the hope of the common populace.

I am using this golden opportunity to call on Bamofin of Yorubaland, the highly respected Chief Afe Babalola to intervene.
