
Gospel artiste dies in Lagos studio: How the Incident Happened
Earlier that day, the victims arrived at the studio to rehearse and record gospel songs for a virtual birthday praise programme. Because they worked late into the night, they decided to remain inside the studio.
However, by the following morning, the studio owner’s husband returned to the building and noticed the door was locked from inside. As a result, he called for assistance, and neighbours forced the door open. Shortly after, they found all four occupants lifeless inside the studio.

Police authorities identified the victims as:
- Matthew Ogundele – Gospel artiste
- Itunu Ogundele – Crew member
- Joseph Sanya – Crew member
- Matthew Awosanya – Blogger known as JoesMediaTV

Immediately after the discovery, residents alerted the police. Consequently, officers from the Ajiwe Police Station arrived at the scene and secured the premises.
Meanwhile, medical doctors at Mainland Hospital, Yaba, confirmed the deaths. Subsequently, police officers moved the bodies to the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Importantly, investigators found no visible injuries or signs of violence. Therefore, the police transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for further forensic investigation.
Public Reaction
Following the incident, friends, fans, and colleagues expressed shock and grief across social media platforms. In addition, many Nigerians called for a transparent and thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, the police urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
Investigation Continues
For now, authorities have not released the official cause of death. However, police officials assured the public that autopsy results and forensic findings will guide further actions.
