Special Adviser on Security matters to the Executive Governor of the Abia state, Naval commander Macdonald Ubah, Rtd, has restated the unwavering commitment of the state government towards safety of the people of the state.
He said the present administration in the state placed the security of lives and property as topmost priority, assuring that government will continue to provide necessary logistic supports to Nigeria security agencies, in curbing the menaces of criminal elements anywhere in Abia.
Ubah spoke in an interview with our correspondent on Sunday in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.
He reiterated the warning to men of the underworld to vacate the state and vowed that government will not rest on its oars towards ensuring no hiding places for them to unleash their nefarious attacks on the innocent citizens of the state.
While attributing the existing peace being experienced by inhabitants of the state to effective rejiggering of the security architecture as expressed by the governor in different fora. Cmdr Ubah commended the security agencies in the state for their diligence, zeal and patriotism in achieving a safer Abia before, during, and after the yuletides.
The security expert further assured the populace on the determination of Governor Alex Otti’s administration and that of security agencies in Abia state in sustaining the tempo this new year, urging residents to attend their daily businesses without fears.
On socio-economic and infrastructural development of Abia state, Cmdr Ubah also maintained that Governor Otti has redefined governance in the state, through the execution of completed road projects across the local government areas of the state, implementation of human welfare enhancement programs, tuition-free education in Abia primary and secondary schools, the construction and reconstruction of state-owned hospitals and primary health centres, equiped with modern medical facilities, promotion of mechanized agriculture, enhanced security network, and other numerous gigantic developmental projects not mentioned for want of time.
According to ex-naval commander, the current administration has provided over 50 hectares of land for the Nigerian Air Force around the airport site and acquired property that would serve as their administrative office within the Umuahia metropolis which would be a force multiplier in the overall security of the state. Dr Alex Otti’s government has created an enabling environment for economic activities to thrive in Abia state, lauding the ongoing construction of Airport at Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North local area by the state government in partnership with federal government of Nigeria.
“The airport project when actualized will provide jobs to indigent Abians; enhance internally generated revenue of the state so as to enable government get funds to built more critical infrastructures in enhancing development in our state and improving people’s livelihoods.
Ubah however, appreciated the continued support and prayers of Abia people to the positive efforts of Governor Alex Otti-led administration in putting Abia on the path of economic greatness, reassuring them to expect more democratic dividends at their various doorsteps from the state government this new year, 2025.
