Ibadan incident that brought Sunday Igboho into limelight, how bullets fired could not penetrate – INTERESTING STORY TO READ!

The newly crowned Yoruba liberator, activist and defender of the oppressed, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho recounted how he came into limelight in 2002 in Ibadan, Oyo State through former Governor Lam Adesina.

The incident that brought him into limelight started from a Petrol Station at Gate in Ibadan during fuel scarcity.  He said there was a long queue  from midnight at the Petrol Station into the second day.

“At about 12 noon, former Governor of Oyo State, Lam Adesina and his convoys were going for a campaign and wanted to fuel their tanks. The Mobile Police escorts stated beating people in order to gain access, in the process, an elderly man fell down. He was beaten up by the people.

“I challenged the police, slapped him and told him he should respect his elders. He took his gun and shot me twice, it was at time I was just coming from wartorn Modakeke and Ile-Ife crisis. The bullets did not penetrate, meanwhile, people have scampered for safety.”

Governor Adesina sent someone to invite me, I was introduced to him that I came from Igboho and they said they are heading for Igboho too for their campaign. I narrated the incident to him how the MOPOL beat the elderly man who was on the queue since 3a.m.  I told him if they had beaten me I would not bother but this elderly man. Lam Adesina sent for the man,  there and then, in my presence, the governor gave the man N250,000 cash.

“Baba Adesina now gave me his Complimentary Card and he said he wanted me one of his guards. He added that Baba Adedibu is giving him sleepless nights, we need such a brave man like this. That was how God brought me into limelight, just because I defended a helpless man.”
