In his statement Dr Adedokun said Ileogbo Town Union is ready to confront criminalities headlong in the environment, the statement reads,
“More worrisome is the spate of general insecurity and specific report of violent attacks perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen militias invading various communities in Nigeria.
The nefarious activities of armed robbery gangs, night marauders and hoodlums from outside and within have become threats to the people of Ileogbo in recent times.
The ancient kingdom of Ileogbo and her people strongly believe that through peace, the community or the society at large provides an assurance for security, love and stable minds to develop in the interest of all members of a particular community.
In the realisation of this, the Ileogbo Unity Forum (IUF), the Central Union of all Ileogbo indigenes at home and in the diaspora, is embarking on the establishment of a modern security network in Ileogbo, to fight crimes and all forms of anti-social behaviours that constitute threats to people’s lives and property.
Mr. Anthony Owolabi, the National President of Ileogbo Unity Forum and members of his formidable executive, are leaving no stone unturned to fight against criminal tendencies in the town through the establishment of “Arepoponda Security Network” as a modern indigenous security architecture. This is an effort that is being geared towards embracing community- policing in order to complement the unitary police and other law enforcement agencies.
The current Executive of Ileogbo Unity Forum under the leadership of Mr. Owolabi strongly believes that a second layer of policing has become inevitable so that the locality is better secured, since every crime is local.
The “Arepoponda Security Network” is composed of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the DSS and the local hunters.
The operational activities of the security network in Ileogbo are being funded by the Ayedire Local Government, the Ileogbo Unity Forum and good spirited individuals who are developmental conscious.
The Arepoponda Security Network is now adopting modern technology which involves the use of Drones Technology for surveillance in strategic locations in the town.
In an interactive session with His Royal Majesty, Oba Abeeb Adetoyese Agbaje Arowookunjoye2 , the Olu of Ileogbo, Dr. Tunde Adedokun, the IUF Social and Publicity Secretary, gathered that Oba Adetoyese is favourably disposed towards the new efforts of the Ileogbo Unity Forum in establishing a modern security outfit for his kingdom.
Oba Adetoyese strongly warns hoodlums and criminal elements to move away from Ileogbo, now that effective security network is on ground.
Meanwhile, barricades and bumps have been constructed on all the exit roads from the town, so as to curtail frivolous movement of people into the town especially at night.
With the present efforts of the Ileogbo Unity Forum on security, there is every assurance that the sons and daughters of Ileogbo in the diaspora would have enthusiasm to bring development to their native community.”
