President Muhammadu Buhari claimed on Wednesday that his administration finished strongly, saying, “we did our best.”

Buhari, who bows out of office in a few days, held a valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), where he insisted that his cabinet still stands until May 29th, 2023.

He used the opportunity to thank the staff of the State House, who worked with him in the last eight years of his administration, saying he appreciated their support and loyalty.

Buhari also seized the occasion to thank all the ministers for their steadfastness in pursuing the goals of the administration.

He charged them to extend similar support to the incoming president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even from outside the government.

“I am proud to say we gave our best,” he added.

He urged the ministers to tidy up their work and avoid last-minute rushes that could compromise the good deeds they had done over the years.

While attributing all the good work and goodwill received by his administration to God’s intervention, he noted that God deserved praise for keeping the team together.

The outgoing President also said he looked forward “to a great many of you, disproving that Daura has not become too distant because I am no longer Mr President.”

HE SAID:

“I will also be happy to do the many things that I have not been able to since May 29th, 2015, one of such is my favourite pastime of taking care of my cattle.”
