FEW hours after handing over the baton of power to his successor in Anambra State, ex-Governor Willie Obiano was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos on his way to the United States on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Obiano, who has been on the Commission’s watchlist, was arrested at about 8.30pm.
He was reportedly on his way out of the country to Houston, Texas in the United States after handing over to his successor, Governor Charles Soludo.

The arrest came barely hours after attending the inauguration of his successor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Obiano, had been on the commission’s watchlist.
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest.
