JUSTICE HAS BEEN DONE: OLUJOGUN Clan Is Also Entitled To Odofin Chieftancy In Ileogbo

THE Olujogun family in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State, has described the installation of their illustrious son, Chief Samuel Faleye as the new Odofin of Ileogbo, by His Royal Majesty, Oba Abeeb Adetoyese Agbaje Arowookunjoye ii, the Olu of Ileogbo, as a just and fair decision.

In a release by the Family Head of Olujogun Compound in Ileogbo, Pa Asimiyu Faniran, the title of Odofin Chieftaincy as a Kingmaker in the Ileogbo Kingdom is equally the right of the Olujogun Compound going by historical antecedent.

The statement added:

“I wish to inform the general public especially the people of Ileogbo Kingdom both at home and in diaspora that Odofin Chieftaincy Title is as old as Ileogbo Kingdom, and from time immemorial, it was Olujogun Compound of Ileogbo that was producing the Odofin before it was thrown to the Oladunwo Compound”.

The late Chief Fasina Ajayi was installed during the reign of Baale Akinyele in the 19th Century. Till date, a section of Olujogun Compound is named “Odofin Compound Unit” as testimony of history.

The statement further added that it was the death of Chief Fasina Ajayi, which made the elders of Olujogun Compound to search for whom to occupy the vacant position of Odofin Chieftaincy until the Baale of Ileogbo Kingdom, LATE BAALE ADERIBIGBE used Royal Prerogative power to take the ODOFIN CHIEFTAINCY TITLE to Kulende Compound (now Oladunwo Compound) by installing LATE CHIEF SHITTU ADEOSUN as the first Odofin Chieftain from Kulende Compound “.

Since then, Olujogun Compound has been deprived of the opportunity to ascend the Odofin Chieftaincy position.

After the demise of LATE CHIEF AMOS OLATOYE ALABI (immediate past Odofin of Ileogbo Kingdom), the people of Olujogun Compound approached the Palace to lodge their grievances and appealed to the Palace to choose/install the next Odofin Chieftain from their compound.

This made the Palace to invite people from Olujogun and Oladunwo Compounds to two consecutive meetings, where decision was taken to install a new Odofin, following the demise of Chief Amos Olatoye Alabi.

The Press Release claimed the two Compounds (Olujogun and Oladunwo ) attended the meeting where each of Oladunwo and Olujogun Compounds gave narratives to ascertain the claim to the stool of Odofin.

After the deliberations, the Palace resolved that history has shown that the two compounds (Olujogun and Oladunwo) have occupied the Odofin position either then or now and it was thereafter concluded that the two compounds (Olujogun and Oladunwo) will be ascending the position in turn henceforth.

The traditional chiefs, royal houses and important dignitaries who attended the installation ceremony of the new Odofin applauded the Olu of Ileogbo for doing justice by given back to the OLUJOGUN family the Chieftaincy of Odofin, which had continuously been usurped by Oladunwo Compound for long.

The new Odofin expressed his profound appreciation thus:
