Controversial commentator and former journalist Dr. Kemi Olunloyo has broken her four-month silence on social media, delivering a blistering message that questions Nigeria’s security, media independence, and political direction.
In her first tweet after months away, Olunloyo declared bluntly, “Nigeria will never be safe,” a statement that immediately sparked intense reactions across social media platforms.
In a lengthy post shared under the hashtag #drkemitalks, she accused Nigerians of hypocrisy, claiming the public selectively consumes news—ignoring stories about celebrities while demanding constant updates on government and politics.
“Don’t be addicted to news. I have no news for you anymore,” she wrote, adding that her 12 years of work in journalism were consistently disrespected.
Olunloyo stated that it has been three years since she left Nigeria and described herself as “free” from the country. She also revealed that she had stayed off Facebook for three months, alleging that many of her followers refused to engage with her YouTube platform despite her continued posts there.
“I will always be on YouTube @drkemiofnigeria,” she said, while warning that her Facebook account could be deactivated again within days.

In the same message, Olunloyo made sweeping allegations about Nigeria’s media landscape, claiming television, newspapers, and radio stations are controlled by the state and deliberately suppress or underreport critical information.
She questioned why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, had not addressed the nation following recent security incidents, arguing that silence from leadership reflects deeper problems within the country’s defense system.
“Defense is messed up,” she asserted, suggesting that authorities lacked full knowledge of the timing and scope of recent attacks.
Olunloyo also claimed that some weapons used in recent operations failed to detonate, alleging that unexploded devices could have caused civilian casualties if mishandled. These assertions have not been independently verified.
Political Allegations and Renewed Controversy
In one of her most provocative claims, Olunloyo alleged that political forces are positioning National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for the presidency, suggesting that President Tinubu is “on his way out.” No official sources have corroborated these claims.
She further revived past allegations that armed groups were being supplied with weapons, claiming that earlier warnings she made were dismissed as artificial intelligence–generated content. According to her, recent developments now support her position—an assertion that remains unconfirmed by authorities.

She accused Nigeria’s national security apparatus of severe dysfunction and warned of more violence ahead.
“Many will die. Who’s next?” she asked.
Exit From News and Shift in Focus
Despite the alarming tone of her message, Olunloyo insisted she is no longer working in journalism or any form of news reporting.
“I no longer work in news or work, period,” she stated, expressing indifference toward criticism and online abuse.

She concluded by announcing a shift in content focus, saying she would return to YouTube while sharing food and health-related reels instead of political commentary.
As of the time of this report, the presidency, the Nigerian military, and individuals mentioned in the post have not issued official responses to the claims.
Dr. Kemi Olunloyo’s return has once again divided public opinion—between those who see her comments as urgent warnings and others who view them with skepticism—reigniting debates about media trust, national security, and the role of outspoken commentators in Nigeria’s public space.
