Oluwole Lawrence (37 years) was the fourth defendant on the alleged murder case of Timothy Oludare Adegoke, a Master’s Degree student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Oluwole who gave his evidence through an interpreter, Oyewale Odewusi, he said he lives in Ife as a Security Officer under Rain Power Guard.
Under heated cross examination, the defendant said as follows:
Counsel: Cast your mind to November 6 and 7 2021 what happened?
Oluwole: I always supervise my surbordinates anywhere they are working in case there is any issues confronting them.
My boss, Dr Rahman Adedoyin trusted me because am always serious on my job. He told me that because am working for him I should supervise his two hotels.

He said some of the workers in those hotels always cut corners renting the hotels without rendering returns.
Did you visit the hotel on November 5, 2021?
I went there on the 6th to check.
What was your findings on the 6th?
On that day I met Adedeji Adesola in Hilton Hotel.
Is it Hilton Hotel Royal or Honours?
Hilton hotel, I asked how many hotel rooms did she sold, she said she rented out 16 rooms.
I asked her to go with me to check the remaining rooms to confirm the vacant rooms, she followed me to check the vacant rooms. Everything was okay.
We came back to the reception together and I asked her to bring the book where they entered Lodgers list. I checked the book and checked through and it was correct.

What did you do thereafter?
I wrote it there that she sold 16 rooms and signed and left.
Were you in the hotel thereafter?
No.
What day were you arrested?
I was arrested on the 12th November, 2021, in the evening, I was called that they needed my attention at Hilton Royal.

Yes.
Tell my Lord if you conspired with anybody to kill anybody?
No
Did you join hands with anybody to commit any offence whatsoever?
No
2nd Cross Examination:
Are you a security in the house of Rahman Adedoyin? True or false?
I only supervised the places.
You are also a checker in the hotel?
Yes, the rooms that has not been sold out.
On the 5th and 6th and 7th, you checked Hilton Hotels?
I only went on the 6th November
You usually checked at 5.30am?
Yes
Your reason for checking is to prevent fraud?
Yes.
Was Room 305 sold or unsold on the 5 to 7th?
On the 6th day, it was part that was sold between 5 and 6th and I signed.
Was the money paid by Timothy written in the account of the company?
I am not aware whether he paid or not. Am only concerned if it was let out or not.
Room 305 was said to have been unsold and you did not check it.
Room 305 was sold I can’t check the room.
Did you discover any fraud on the part of Adesola?
No
Did you sign after checking?
Yes.
I did not see any fraudulent act on Adesola’s account.
After checking the rooms, I did not report to anybody because there is no mistake or error on that day.
If there is any fraud, I will return back to the Owner of the hotel but since there is no fraudulact act, there is nothing can do.
My own is that anybody that his name is on the account must be on the paybook. I am not concerned whatsoever to wherever the money is being payed.
Can you remember the name of the Security on duty on that day?
I can’t remember the security officer in charge on the 6th November 2021.
On the 6th November 2021 when I got to the hotel, I asked him if there was no problem and the security told me that everything was in control.
How many security on duty?
One security was on duty on the 6th. For both hotel, there are 2 security guards.
He said he can’t remember the name of the securities in the hotel.
Anytime there is problem, I inform Raheem Adedoyin.

Third cross examination
askedthat did he conspire with Raheem Adedoyin to kill Timothy and he said no, he did not conspire with anybody
He said it has been long since he has been supervising the Hotel
He broke down in tears during the cross examination.
He said he only has access to check those room that were not sold
He was cross examined to reaffirm that is he sure that room 305 is among the room sold on the 6th November 2021 and he said he is sure that room 305 was in the ledger book
Do you confirm that 16 names were written on the ledger book?
He was cross examined to reaffirm that is it 16 people that lodged on the 6th of November 2021.
