Where Do the Pastors’ Jets and Universities Come From? Madugba Names Obasanjo in Viral Video

A Nigerian cleric has made a bold claim about how some of the country’s most prominent pastors built their wealth. Rev. Prof. Mosy Madugba, founder of the Ministers Prayer Network (MPN), alleges that former President Olusegun Obasanjo gave oil wells to Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Pastor William Kumuyi. The Madugba oil wells claim spread quickly on social media on Saturday, November 7, 2026, after a video of his remarks went viral.

According to several news reports, Madugba made the allegation while he addressed his congregation. He urged his listeners to associate with wise people and to work deliberately to grow their knowledge and capacity. Then, he turned to the pastors as an example of how powerful connections can change a person’s fortunes.

“Obasanjo gave them oil wells,” Madugba said in the video. He named Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel. He also named Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and Kumuyi, the leader of Deeper Christian Life Ministry.

Madugba linked the alleged oil wells directly to the pastors’ wealth. He said the three men have universities, big hospitals and schools. In addition, he claimed that Oyedepo and Adeboye own private jets. However, he said Kumuyi does not own one, and he singled him out as the exception.

The cleric went further. He also alleged that Obasanjo, while in office, allocated oil wells to some of his associates in the Niger Delta, and that this gave them enormous wealth. Therefore, in his telling, access to oil assets under that government explains the fortunes of several well-known figures.

Despite the boldness of the claims, Madugba offered no documents to back them up. Prompt News reported that he provided no documentary evidence in the video. Moreover, other outlets stressed that nobody has independently verified the allegations. As a result, readers should treat them as one man’s assertions, not established facts.

The named parties have not responded in the reports Sojworldnews reviewed. Neither Obasanjo nor the three pastors had addressed the allegations when those reports were filed. Likewise, their churches had issued no statement. Sojworldnews will update this story if any of them reply.

The claim touches a sensitive subject in Nigeria. Many people question how some religious leaders built large business and education empires, while others defend those institutions as the fruit of decades of work and member support. Oil licences are normally issued through government agencies, so official records could confirm or refute the allegation. Until someone produces such records, the claim stays unproven.

The video has triggered a heated debate online. Some users demand that Madugba present proof, while others call for the pastors to speak openly about the source of their institutions. Meanwhile, supporters of the named leaders have urged the public not to accept an unsupported claim about men who run large ministries and schools.

For now, one point is clear. Madugba made a serious allegation against four prominent Nigerians, and he has not yet backed it with evidence. Readers should wait for documents or responses before drawing conclusions. Sojworldnews will keep following the story and report any reaction from Obasanjo and the pastors.
