ONDO State All Progressives Congress, APC Youths have petitioned President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the party over what it called gross irregularities in the just concluded gubernatorial primary elections.
The youths called on the leadership of the party to declare the election null and void and fresh election devoid of violation of electoral law conducted.
“We, the youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, are compelled to address a matter of urgent concern regarding the primary elections conducted on 20 April 2024. This petition seeks to highlight the profound irregularities observed and demands immediate intervention to uphold the integrity of our party.

Irregularities and Misconduct
The primary elections held across the 203 wards in the eighteen Local Governments of Ondo State were marred by blatant irregularities and acts of thuggery, allegedly perpetrated by certain high-ranking party officials and public office appointees. It is disheartening to report that these individuals compromised the sanctity of our electoral process, influencing outcomes to their favor by forcibly preventing legitimate voters from exercising their democratic rights.
Violations Observed
It has come to our attention that the guiding rules set forth by the APC for conducting primaries were grossly violated. Electoral materials were either withheld or mishandled, and many polling units witnessed the intimidation of voters.
Thugs were hired to chase away supporters of various aspirants, creating an atmosphere of fear and chaos to skew the electoral outcomes.

Lack of Oversight
The oversight expected from electoral officials was woefully inadequate. There were widespread reports of unauthorized individuals wielding influence over the voting process, with electoral officials either absent or complicit in these manipulations.
The result was a series of doctored returns that do not reflect the true will of the APC members in Ondo State.
Call for Action
In light of these grave violations, we urgently call upon President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader ALH Ganduje, State Leader Engr. Ade Adetimehin, and all respected APC chieftains in Ondo State to take immediate steps to address these issues.

Demand for Electoral Review and Rescheduling
We request a thorough investigation into the misconduct and irregularities reported. Furthermore, it is imperative that the primary elections be declared null and void, and a new date be set for a fresh election under strict observances and transparent conditions.
Ensuring a Fair Process
The new electoral process must be closely monitored, with effective measures in place to prevent any form of undue influence or violence. Electoral officials must be impartial and adequately trained to manage the elections with the highest standards of fairness and integrity.
