JUST IN: Ondo State Govt Suspends 5 Civil Servants For Fraud

Ondo State Government has suspended five of its workers for their alleged involvement in tax fraud.

The suspected civil servants were said to have defrauded the state government to the tune of N200 million.

The civil servants, who have been arrested by the police alongside one Ayadi Orimisan, were accused of issuing fake tax clearance, certificate of road worthiness and fake driver’s licence.

Parading the suspected tax fraudsters at state headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Police Public Relations officer, Femi Joseph listed names of the civil servants to include Mrs Oluwatoyin Abiodun, Ojo Ayodeji, David Omoyajowo, Isaac Solomon and Femi Tuki.

The PPRO said they would be charged to court as soon as the police concluded their investigations.

Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Dr Doyin Odebowale said interim investigation had shown that the state government had been defrauded to the tune of N200 million by the five suspected workers.

According to him, suspected fraudsters were handed over to the police for prosecution in order to serve as deterrent to others involved in such.

However, one of the suspects, Mrs Abiodun, who confirmed that they had been suspended by the state civil service commission, denied the allegation.
