WATCH VIDEO: Obi admits he is not a saint, says others are more corrupt
Peter Obi is not a saint, by his own admission, but the former Anambra State governor insists he is far less corrupt than his political rivals. He made the claim in a video that is now circulating online.
In the clip, Obi said he never presented himself as perfect. He also pointed out that he was not the only person who had served as a governor. Furthermore, he questioned how many of his rivals have accounted for even 10 per cent of what they are accused of.
According to Obi, countries change when citizens say enough is enough. Therefore, he urged Nigerians to start by backing the candidate who is “maybe less corrupt” instead of accepting the status quo.
He also linked corruption to the poor state of public services. In his words, the money that officials share and use to buy property abroad is the reason Nigeria lacks schools and hospitals. Moreover, he recalled an earlier era when public officials did not steal to buy houses in England, and he said such stories are now common.
Meanwhile, a post on X by @JohnFanimokun quoted Obi as saying he is “far less corrupt” than Atiku Abubakar and others, with a proven track record of fiscal prudence. Sojworldnews has not independently verified that wording, so readers can check the video for the exact remarks.
“I am not a saint, but compared to Atiku Abubakar and others, I am far less corrupt and have a proven track record of fiscal prudence.”
