Veteran Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has issued a heartfelt public apology following widespread backlash over a video that appeared on her social media page at a time many Nigerians considered inappropriate.
The controversy erupted after the video surfaced while the Nigerian film industry and fans were still mourning the passing of popular actress Allwell Ademola. Many social media users described the post as insensitive, sparking criticism and heated conversations across various platforms.
Reacting to the outrage, Ronke Oshodi-Oke took to social media to clarify that she was not personally responsible for uploading the video. According to the actress, the post was uploaded by her manager, who had scheduled it since Saturday night, unaware of how events would unfold.

In her emotional apology, Ronke explained that she would have taken the video down immediately after noticing it, but was unable to do so due to poor network service in Ado-Ekiti, where she was at the time.
“Hmm 😭😭… Nigerians please forgive me 🙏. It wasn’t me that posted that viral video. My manager scheduled it earlier, and the moment I saw it, I wanted to delete it, but the network was very bad in Ado Ekiti,” she wrote.
The actress went on to express deep sorrow over the loss of her colleague, acknowledging that emotions were still raw within the industry and among fans.
“I am really sorry. I know everyone is still mourning Allwell Ademola, our colleague,” she added.
Following her apology, reactions from Nigerians remained mixed. While some fans accepted her explanation and called for understanding, others insisted that public figures must exercise greater caution during sensitive moments, regardless of who manages their pages.
The incident has once again sparked conversations around social media management, accountability, and empathy, especially for celebrities whose actions—intentional or not—are constantly under public scrutiny.
As the Nollywood community continues to grieve the loss of Allwell Ademola, many have urged for unity, compassion, and respect during this difficult time.
