Sen Isiaka Adeleke’s Death: Prosecutor Calls Last Witness

An Osun State High Court Ede Division, presided over by Justice Ayo Oyebiyi, in the continuation of suit against the cause of the death of late Senator isiaka Adeleke which continued today.

The Acting Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary for the state, Dapo Adeniji, led the prosecution team for the State.

Prosecutor had called nine (9) witnesses proof his case.

A Divisional  Police officer in charge of Dugbe Police Station Osogbo, Mr. Ogunkanmi Gbemileke gave evidence before the court today.

Mr. Ogunkanmi said he directed his Men (police officers) to fill and sign the autopsy and coroner form before autopsy commenced on the late Senator.

He said further that after the Coroner Form was filled the pathologist commenced investigation on Late Senator at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital Osogbo and immediately after they finished examining the corpse, police team later moved all other necessary samples to the police headquarters Osogbo.

He stated further that one Oladipo Fabode brought a polythene bag to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital on that day which Contained used drugs and later handed it over to him.

Mr. Ogunkanmi stated that he didn’t participated in the autopsy but his Men did thorough investigations on the corpse and presented report to the coroner inquest.

It would be recall that Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara-led coroner inquest had recommended the Nurse for prosecution, having established that he administered a drug overdose on the late Senator, thus causing his death.

The Consultant Pathologist, who carried out the autopsy on Adeleke’s corpse, Dr Taiwo Sholaja, also told when he testified in the Court that Adeleke died of drug overdose.

Counsel to the suspect, Soji Oyetayo, cross examined witness.

Justice Ayo Oyebiyi adjourned to 6 of July 2019.
