A yet-to-be-identified truck driver has lost his life after his truck rammed into a faulty stationary truck at the Car Park-C section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday.
An eyewitness, Akeem Ade, told PUNCH Metro that the accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when the driver lost control and rammed into the vehicle.
Ade noted that the impact of the collision led to damage to the trucks, while the driver was trapped in the wreckage before the arrival of emergency responders.
Ade said,
“An accident occurred very early this morning at the Car Park-C. A truck driver rammed into a stationary truck, and he was trapped in the wreckage. I doubt if he can survive it.
“I think he lost control before ramming into the truck. Emergency responders are at the scene.”
Confirming the accident in a telephone conversation with our correspondent, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, noted that two people were involved in the accident.
He identified the vehicles involved as one DAF truck with number plate AK 658 XD and another MACK truck with number plate AME 58 XC.
He added,
“The driver of the interlock bricks-laden truck was trying to make a turn at the Car Park-C and broke down in the process.
“The driver of the loaded beer rammed into the other stationary truck due to his excessive speed and loss of control.
