A teenager, Abdulrofiu Sakariyau, 19 on Tuesday admitted guilt during arraignment at an Osogbo High Court before Justice Kudirat Akano that he murdered a student of the University of Osun, Mr Timileyin Sonibare.
Sakariyau was arraigned along with Yusuf Kareem,18; Ayuba Ibrahim, 20; Isiaq Yusuf, 40; and Abdulkareen Adeoti, 50.
The others pleaded not guilty.

Akano consequently remanded them in the Ilesha Prison custody until Dec. 15
She held that the remand was due to the gravity of the alleged offence.
The prosecution counsel, Dr Bashir Ajibola, had submitted that the accused murdered the student on June 26 at Oke-Baale area of Osogbo.
Ajibola said that the accused cut Sonibare’s head, hand and some other parts of his body and killed him, in contravention of Sections 516, 319 and 242 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Alayo Abayomi and Mr Kazeem Badmus, prayed the court to grant bail to their clients, who pleaded not guilty.

However, Akano overruled them and ordered that all the five accused persons be remanded until Dec. 15, when the case would be mentioned again.
It would be recalled the death of a 400 level Micro-Biology student of University of Osun (UNIOSUN), Master Timilehin Shonibare sparked off riots in Osogbo late June 2017.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Olufimihan Adeoye, said the suspects carried out the crime on June 26 at about 7:30pm at Oke-Bale area of Osogbo. He said the suspects conspired and killed one Timilehin by hitting him on the head with a mortar- pestle.
Adeoye said the victim’s head, two wrists and palms were cut off while his remains were dumped in the bush. He said friends of the victim reported him missing on June 27 at 7:45 pm while the information obtained from them led to the arrest of a 19-year-old apprentice herbalist as well as his two suspected accomplices aged 24 and 18, while one was at large.

The police boss said the head, wrists and palms of the dead student, which were roasted in a black clay pot, were recovered from the apprentice herbalist and his confessional statement led to the arrest led to the arrest of others.
All students of UNIOSUN are earnestly waiting for justice to be meted out to the killers of their colleague murdered at his prime.
