UPDATE: OSUN under siege as TINUBU/SHETTIMA office attacked in Ede, properties set ablaze

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) offices in Ede were attacked at Ede on Saturday. by protesters who were allegedly protesting against last Friday’s verdict of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that declared former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola winner.

 

 

The protesters allegedly descended on the APC Secretariat in Ede South and Ede North in the state. 

According to an APC leader who appeared on a popular radio program on Tuesday, he said the two offices attacked in Ede South and Ede North were not set ablaze as earlier reported but members were forced to vacate the offices while valuable properties were carted into the road and set ablaze.

 

 

But the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) distanced its supporters from the arson.

In a statement by a party leader, Dr. Mufutao Oyewale, the APC alleged that the PDP has recruited militia group to create unrest in the community by paralyzing economic activities to protest against the verdict of tribunal.

The statement reads: “On the streets of Ede in particular, and the state in general, to see dangerous political thugs dangling and brandishing new cutlasses and guns all in the name of enjoyment of amity with the state government.

“We enjoined the State Commissioner of police and other sister security agencies in the state to come to the aid of the APC members and leaders in Ede who are being hunted by the PDP thugs like animals in the bush.”

Elsewhere in Ilesa, the Tinubu/Shettima’s campaign office in Ileha was attacked by gunmen, who destroyed the property within the premises.

Reacting to the allegations, PDP Acting Chairman, Dr. Adekunle Akindele, denied the allegations, saying: “Osun PDP members only engaged in peaceful protests all over the state.

“Our members did not attack anybody. Osun APC is raising fasle alarm simply because it was in trouble over its attempt to steal a popular mandate through the back door.”
