President General, Yoruba World Congress, Prof. Banji Akintoye and Yoruba sons and daughters gathered to fashion out the way forward for the Yorubas.

Professor Akintoye took those who were not born when Nigeria was practicing true federalism consisting of Western Region, Eastern Region and Northern Region through historical lane.

He told the younger ones how Chief Obafemi Awolowo was able to manage the resources of Western Region to the extent that Federal Government got loans and grants from the Western Region. He added that loan is different from grant.

“That was how bouyant we are at the time as we were developing at our own pace with free education”, he said

He went further to state how the constitution was manipulated by the military to favour the north.

The expiration of 90 days given to the federal government for a discussion which did not materialise and their consultation with the United Nations over self determination of the Oduduwa Republic.

He concluded his speech saying,

“Essentially, I have not said ‘in fact’, you have renege on the agreement we signed together, we are no longer part of Nigeria again.”
