Today, January 9, 2018 the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo declared open a two day Regional Youth Summit in Osogbo, first of its kind in the South West of Nigeria and indeed in Nigeria.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is the highest ranking political office holder in the entire South Western Region, who with all sense of humility and modesty abandoned all his other tight schedules to lend his support for the future of our youths who are our future.

Out of all the six governors in the South West comprising: Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti states only Oyo governor, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi and the host governor, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola were present. Other governors were either represented by their deputies or Commissioners.
This is not good enough at a time the youths needed the governors most to chart a new course for a bright future.
The Regional Youth Summit for South Wet was championed by the Osun State government under the supervision of the Commissioner for Regional Integration, Hon. Bola Ilori, an indigene of Ondo State under the leadership of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
One would have expected the physical presence of all the South West governors at this great occasion.
A Political Analyst who prefers to remain anonymous said, ‘’ the non-challant attitude of almost all the governors and leaders is a dangerous signal and a pointer that all is not well within the ranks and files of the South West governors, this is in spite of their regular meetings for the integration of the region. It was reported that the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Lasun was in Osun but was not at the summit’’
He said further that, ‘’Ogbeni Aregbesola as an individual needs to brace up as he prepares for his exit at the end of his tenure later this year.’’
No doubt the sincerity of purpose on the need for re integration and regional transmission to position the future generations of Yoruba land as always being championed by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, cannot be over emphasized.
According to Prof. Osinbajo, it is an occasion that must not be missed by any person who shares in the vision of the youths’ future.

With the comment of the Vice-President, Prof. Osinbajo, it shows many Yoruba leaders are averse to the vision of our youths’ future in the next 25 years.
Meanwhile, the Youth Summit ends today, we hope important dignitaries expected will be there to support our youths as the summit comes to an end.
