YORUBA RONU!!! What we missed in Awolowo or MKO we may also miss in Tinubu! By Rotimi Makinde

Efforts have been and are still being made by the government of the day to minimize or mitigate against economic downturns through enactment of laws as well as enforcement of integrity systems such as the type Vice President, His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo initiated, but greed, ostentatious lifestyle, customs, and people’s irresponsible attitudes, especially our very own tribe, Yoruba, are believed to have caused more damage than good in the body politics.

Friends and kinsmen seeking favor from officials can impose undeserving and unbearable strains on the ethical disposition of the officials as these kinsmen see government officials as holding avenues for their personal survival and gains, whereas, it is a progressive action, expected to be a collective effort to making the nation a better place.

Wale Adebanwi demonstrates how the corporate agency of the elite transformed the modern history and politics of one of Africa’s largest ethnic groups, the Yorùbá. The argument is organized around the ideas and cultural representations of Ọbafemi Awolowo, the central signifier of modern Yorùbá culture.

Though the narration and analysis of material, non-material and interactional phenomena – such as political party and ethnic group organization, cultural politics, democratic struggle, personal ambitions and group solidarity into the hitherto unexplored undercurrents of one of the most powerful tribe tracing its internal and external struggles for power.

As a result, “great things remain unaccomplished” as Confucius would say. The destroyers of Nigeria use clever talk, promises, proposals and pretensions. Nothing good can come out of these acts. Our “dealers” and “leaders of most of these tribal groups” are enmeshed in a desperate plight of fancy; confusion has turned full circle in statecraft.

The intervention of the likes of our past heroes such as MKO Abiola, Obafemi Awolowo and even our current VP, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is like hot knife cutting through butter. Beyond being a voice of wisdom when everything was almost going kaput, they were really progressive minds, the only trouble, however, is that as a group, the Yoruba Council has been a stabilising lever in times of trouble, but as individuals, many of the members, given the way they messed up the country, have no moral authority to now glide about as troubleshooters.

Today, Tinubu is in the front burner in a rescue mission but yet he is being mostly castigated by his own people. The Yorubas at work.

In the view of critics, many of the Yorubas contributed to how Nigeria became a socio-economic and political sinkhole. It is for this reason that a brainy and vast person in terms of management and progression, such as the VP produced by Tinubu, assessed the economy and found the need to initiate some well measured techniques to ensuring the nation thrives once more, only to be sabotaged by his own tribal vicious saboteurs…Omo Oodua at work.

Kole Omotosho, a renowned professor of literature, recently argued that you cannot have an unsuccessful country with successful leaders. This was corrobrated by Odia Ofeimun, a poet who posited: If Nigeria is unsuccessful, it means our past leaders failed, and the reason is not farfetched, it remains the same “pull him down syndrome” that has circulated amongst the Yorubas. Are we accursed?

While some of the Yorubas were sincere about what they did but were only victims of their own hubris and bad judgment or political circumstances, others, when they had opportunity to make Nigeria great by being in synch with their fellow man, bungled it and ended up as unmitigated disasters. Now the mixed bag!

Pa Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory, was pulled down mostly by the Yorubas. Greatest critics of late Oba Adesoji Aderemi, the Ooni of Ife, who doubled as Governor General of Western State who championed the OAU to Ile Ife were majorly pulled down by big politicians from his home country Ile Ife.

Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the reigning Ooni of Ile Ife, with steady progress and serious determination to reunite the yorubas, is today, being attacked daily by treacherous sponsors from his very home.Yoruba Ronu oooo. They want him down at all cost

Those who are benefitting from unnecesarry feud between former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Gov. Gboyega Oyetola remain on board causing division.Omo Odu to da iwa at work !.Yoruba ronu oooo.

Late Adetunji Isiaka Adeleke and his dynasty which includes Demola Adeleke and the progressive pact of their late father to this set of people must remain apart. That is Yoruba for you. Late Ladoke Akintola’s family and Obafemi Awolowo’s family to them, must remain as enemies. Even after death.

How many of the “so called” progressives who benefitted from late MKO Abiola’s sacrifice even remember his children, Kola Abiola, his brothers and sisters?

How many of those made by Tinubu or made by Aregbesola are today singing their praises, many are today pretending to be loyal to Gov Oyetola because of their ambitions.Omo araiye ki yaago fun elesin ana.Yoruba e Ronu oooo

Some recent and sponsored “pull him down” articles against the only topmost Yoruba up there, Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who is adjudged as one of the best that ever come from Oduduwa descendant  was done by the Yorubas!.

The coast is getting clearer, day by day, for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. One can easily predict that his greatest obstacle would be the ‘Yorubawas’, but of course Asiwaju has divine grace of always winning his battles no matter how tough they seem to be.

I have been a Legislator, I was highly supported by non-Ifes in my Consituency, today, I am home and temporarily disconnected because of the “pull him down” syndrome of people, majorly from where I was born !…That is yoruba for you….Yoruba Ronu ooo.

I won election in Ife North, ife South and Modakeke but lost Ife East and Ife Central where I was born by both parents. That is Yoruba for you.

Prof. Osinbajo is one of the best personalities and highly respected son of Oduduwa but sad to see that some clever enemies, Yoruba, want him down..Stinking!

Osun need good managerial skill,we are blessed with Oyetola but today the disunity in his very political party indeed is something else.

How exactly did we get to this declining level? How are we ever going to get out of this stinking situation? This remains a mystery to me.

Yorubas should be careful. The enemies are seriously watching and looking for a vacuum to be created. The Yorubas should have known their enemies not by now, but for the ages past, from the beginning! Hold on tight to that in your possession, for the enemies are ready to snatch it.

We have Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu proclaimed as National Leader by non Yorubas but daily being condemned by Omo Oduduwa.Yoruba e Ronu ooo.Tommorow may be too late.

A word is enough for the wise, but, one thing is certain, posterity will surely judge everyone whether kindly or harshly.

Ori to ma su opo ki je ki alaisan o ye – He that is waiting to inherit will not want the sick to survive

*Rotimi Makinde once represented Ife Federal Constituency at the National Assemby and was Deputy Chairman House Committee on Human Rights. He is today routing for Asiwaju as a critical member of SWAGA.
