The naira opens the week on a steady note. The official rate sits near ₦1,330 per dollar, while the black market rate ranges from ₦1,365 to ₦1,390.

This report uses the latest quotes available on Monday morning. Dealers update their prices through the day. Therefore, check the final price before you trade.

Official Market Rate

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) official rate stands at ₦1,330.10 per dollar. That figure comes from Friday’s close, because the official market does not trade on weekends. As a result, a fresh official rate will arrive later on Monday.

Black Market Rate

Dealers buy the dollar at about ₦1,365 and sell it at about ₦1,390. Consequently, the gap between the official rate and the street rate stays between ₦35 and ₦60 per dollar. Street prices differ by city and by dealer, so shop around.

The pound and the euro also trade at a premium. The pound sells for about ₦1,880 on the street, while the euro sells for about ₦1,590. Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar sells for about ₦1,000.
