Man Says Wife Left Him Stranded Abroad And Took Their Children, Refuses To Reconcile
By SOJWORLDnews | Family & Society
A man says his wife left the country with their children, blocked his number, and disappeared. He shared his story with SOJWORLDnews. More than a decade later, he still does not know where his family lives.
According to him, the family received residency approval for a new country. At that time, he resigned from his job to prepare for the move. However, his wife and their children left before him. They also took the family’s savings with them.
He could not join them right away. His bank needed to audit his position first, so he stayed behind. Consequently, he waited for the process to finish before he could travel.
Then the silence began. Once his wife arrived abroad, she blocked him. She never gave him an address. As a result, he had no way to reach her or the children.
In November 2014, he decided to search for them himself. He flew to Calgary, Alberta, in Canada. Unfortunately, his search failed. He spent time stranded at the airport.
“I could not locate where my wife was staying with our children,”
— he said
Because he held a return ticket, he flew back to Nigeria. However, the trouble did not end there. He says he found himself stranded again once he landed at home.
Since 2016, he has tried to reconcile with his wife. So far, she has refused. He has accepted that he cannot change her mind.
“I tried for us to reconcile, but till now, she is not ready. I cannot force her.”
— he said
Today, he lives alone. He has no companion. Moreover, he still does not know where his wife and children stay. “I have been a refugee,” he said, describing the years since the family split.
His account spans more than ten years. First, the family planned a move abroad. Next, his wife and children left without him. Then he lost contact entirely. Finally, years of failed attempts at reconciliation followed. Throughout this period, he says he has remained without answers.
The children stand at the center of this story. He says he does not know where they live today. Any family separation affects children deeply, and years of silence can leave lasting gaps between a parent and child. His position is clear. He has tried to reconcile, but he will not force the issue.
Stories like this show how fragile a family can become during a move abroad. When one partner travels first, the other depends on trust and steady contact. If either one breaks down, the distance quickly turns into a wall. Furthermore, a long separation makes any search harder with every passing year.
Couples can reduce that risk with a clear plan. Before one partner travels, they can agree on addresses, phone numbers, and a timeline. They can also decide together how to handle savings and property. In addition, they can keep a trusted relative informed about the family’s whereabouts. These steps do not solve every problem. Nevertheless, they give both sides a way to stay connected.
For now, the man waits. He says he has no address, no contact, and no answer. Still, he chose to share what happened to him.
