There is uncertainty in the camp of All Progressives Congress as it rejects President Muhammadu Buhari’s rejection of tenure elongation for Chief Odiegie-Oyegun and other Executives of the party.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said in Abuja that the tenure extension still stands despite the president’s rejection.

According to him, President Buhari only expressed a personal opinion which cannot be considered the decision of the National Executive Council (NEC) which approved the extension in the first place. He insisted that the decision still stands until the NEC reverses itself.
“The president’s position has not changed the position of NEC. NEC has not reversed itself on the tenure extension. The decision of the NEC on the one-year tenure extension still stands.

“The president is not NEC. The NEC will have to reverse itself but right now, it has not done that. So, the tenure extension still stands,” Abdullahi said.

The rejection of President Muhammadu Buhari’s rejection of tenure elongation could trigger another crisis in the ruling party if not well managed. It is not clear if their rejection is to spite the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu in the face or to clip the wings of President Buhari from hijacking the party from the National Executive Committee.
The next few days or weeks will determine where actually APC is heading to. The disagreement in the ruling party will a plus for the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party.
