Adenigba Fadahunsi apology — Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi has apologised to the people of Ijesaland and Osun East Senatorial District. He expressed regret over statements he made during the recent Osun State governorship campaign.

Some of his comments, he admitted, may have caused pain or embarrassment.

He also acknowledged that certain statements may have offended people with different political views.

The senator made the remarks in an apology issued after the election.

According to Fadahunsi, political contests should never destroy the bonds that unite the people.

“Politics is, by its nature, a contest of ideas, convictions, programmes, and visions,” Fadahunsi said.

“However, no political contest should undermine our bonds of brotherhood, unity, dignity, and mutual respect.”

Political differences, he stressed, should never damage peaceful coexistence.

“For any hurt, offence, embarrassment, or disappointment caused by my words, I sincerely apologise,” he said.

Fadahunsi accepted responsibility for his words during the campaign.

Public officials, he noted, must understand the power of their words.

Leaders should also show restraint during intense political contests, he added.

“Words can inspire and unite, but they can also hurt and divide,” he said.

Looking back, the senator admitted that some campaign statements fell below his expected standard.

“For this, I am truly sorry. I humbly ask for your forgiveness,” Fadahunsi added.

Beyond the election, Ijesaland remains greater than any political contest.

Osun East also remains greater than any individual or political party.

“Our shared history, ancestry, culture, values, and aspirations bind us together,” he said.

For that reason, he urged residents to protect those bonds despite political disagreements.

“The election has come and gone. The campaign is over,” Fadahunsi stated.

He therefore called on residents to leave the bitterness of the campaign behind.

His appeal also extended to supporters, associates and political allies.

Fadahunsi urged them to avoid words that could increase political tension.

“No political victory is worth the price of hatred,” he said.

“No political disagreement should ever become greater than the peace of our people.”

Meanwhile, the senator reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Osun East.

He said he remains proud to be a son of Ijesaland.

Public service, he added, comes with a serious responsibility to the people.

Political differences will not change his commitment to the district, according to Fadahunsi.

He promised continued support for programmes that benefit local communities.

Such programmes include education, human capital development and economic empowerment.

Infrastructure and sustainable development also remain important areas of focus.

Fadahunsi said he would not defend statements that caused pain.

Instead, he explained that a sincere apology should not come with excuses.

“A sincere apology should not be accompanied by excuses,” he said.

“Where my words caused hurt, I simply ask for understanding and forgiveness.”

The senator also addressed traditional rulers and community leaders.

His message included elders, religious leaders and political stakeholders across the district.

Women, youths and professionals also received his appeal for peace.

He urged everyone to embrace forgiveness, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.

Fadahunsi further encouraged parents to teach younger generations about political tolerance.

Political disagreement, he said, should never become personal hatred.

“Supporting a different political party or candidate does not make anyone an enemy,” he said.

The Ijesa identity, he added, remains stronger than any election.

“Our common identity, heritage, and destiny are far greater than any political contest,” he stated.

Fadahunsi ended his message with another appeal for forgiveness.

He described his apology as “heartfelt, sincere, and unreserved.”

Finally, the senator prayed for healing across Ijesaland and Osun East.

“May Almighty God heal every wound and restore every strained relationship,” he said.

He also prayed for unity, prosperity and lasting peace across the district.

The statement came under the name of Ijesa Youth for Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi.

The group described Fadahunsi as “a proud son of Ijesaland” and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
