THE Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude (Tegbosun III) is a phenomenal, a man of many parts.
He is the Permanent Chairman of the Supreme Royal Council of all Owu Obas & Chiefs in Yoruba land, (which consists of 43 Kingdoms of Owu Obas, with 17 First-Class Royal Fathers and 113 Chiefs and Magagis; of Kingdoms and Chiefdoms across, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Lagos; parts of Republic of Benin, amongst others in diaspora).
Simplicity of Olowu Kuta popularly known as Makama endeared him to the youths, the widows, the elderly, the military, captain of industries, celebrities, men and women in power including the presidency.
Makama belongs to different classes of people both high and low in the society, he is free with the people. He is the only Kabiyesi I have seen, in spite of his position in the comity of traditional rulers, he still maintains his simplicity.
To say he is generous monarch is an understatement, he gives with careless abandonment, he gives without expecting any returns.
I remembered during Covid-19 pandemic when hunger was pervading the land, I had the opportunity of being one of selected members of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) who paid Kabiyesi a courtesy visit.
He did not only lavishly entertained us, he took us to the inner chamber of his palace reserved for the VIPs, he took individuals and group photos with us.
To our amazement, we all left with a bag of rice each, we are not the only ones who received the gifts but as many that visited him on that day.
As the Grand Patron of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) and many other associations and NGOs, he made sure we never lack anything.
Oba Makama has never been involved in any controversy or scandal that would ridicule his referred throne. Rather, he took the throne to limelight, promoting and influencing his domain to the admiration of his subjects.
It would be recalled that he influenced a once abandoned bridge linking Kuta with Ede constructed by the military. I was part of those who witnessed its inauguration few years back.
Kabiyesi, as an advocate of peace sponsored many Press Releases in support of the military against banditry and terrorism in Nigeria at his own costs.

Just recently, July 1, 2025 he bagged Award of Excellence, TOFAC Oduduwa Award for Cultural Excellence for Royal Majesty’s monumental contributions to Nigeria’s educational development and Yoruba cultural renaissance.
The elaborate ceremony was the 14th Toyin Falola International conference on Africa and the African Diaspora held at the UNIOSUN Conference Hall.
On May 17, 2025 Kabiyesi was inducted into the prestigious Nigerian Book of Records Hall of Fame at Owu-Kuta’s Palace.
Makama was conferred with a National Merit Award “Commander Of The Order Of The Niger, CON” by the former President Muhammadu Buhari who died at the of 82 on Sunday, July 13, 2025. This was in recognition of Makama’s contribution to peace, unity and development in the country as well as his selfless service to humanity.
On many occasions, Kabiyesi distributed palliatives and empowered market men and women, including youths.
As the Patron of the NUJ,Osun State Broadcasting Corporations (OSBC) chapter, he recently donated four air conditioners to the OSBC E-Library named after him. He had, in the past, donated millions of Naira for the construction of the building, bought many equipments like computers, tables and chairs to beautiful the E-Liberary.

To show his Servant Leadership, he sponsored the entertainment of guests, supervised the service of food to each tables to make sure no one is left out. How many Obas in Yorubaland has these sterling qualities? Except very few!
