Foremost leader in Lagos and Southwest politics under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George was on Thursday lost out in the new Executives elected by the party.
Mr Deji Doherty emerged the new Lagos State Chairman of the PDP with 27 votes to defeat his closest rival Mrs Tanwa Olusi who scored 21 votes.
The election was conducted in a very peaceful manner, witnessed by the party leaders, INEC, DSS And other Security agents.
Recall that, the former State Chairman and Senatorial candidate for Lagos West, Otunba Segun Adewale known as Aeroland, was at the forefront of demanding for a proper congress election, to fill all the vacant positions, contrary to the tradition of writing and imposing executives by the Bode George faction of the party.
There was a court order by a faction, loyal to the former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George, although the suit could not deter the Ben Obi led electoral committee from holding the election, because it was considered null and void.
Several others joined in the suit, against PDP, have come out to distance themselves from the suit, that they cannot join any plot to stop the party from moving forward.
Others who emerged include, Mr Muyideen Tejumade as State Legal Adviser, Mr Ambode Akeem as State Organising Secretary, Mrs. Bidemi Akoojenu as the Badagry local government Chairman, Segun Showole as State Vice Chairman Central, Mike Kolawole as Apapa Local Government Chairman, and Dada Oloriebi as the Assistant State Secretary.
The new Chairman is expected to pilot the affairs of the party, until a new general State Congress is organized, before the 2023 general elections, where new officers will be elected from ward, Local Government to State Executives.
