AT least 18 travellers were crushed to death by a Truck allegedly owned by Dangote at Ovia River along Benin-Ore Expressway on Friday morning.
The bus was coming from Lagos towards Akwa Ibom when the incident occurred.
At the time of filing this report, it remains unclear whether there were any survivors or the exact number of victims involved in the accident but a source claimed no one survived in the 18-seater passenger bus.
The shocking news caught the attention of Twitter user @feloxeny, who identified the victims as Pastors from his Church in Akwa Ibom.

According to @feloxeny, the pastors had just concluded a Pastor’s Council meeting in Lagos and were returning to Akwa Ibom when the tragic accident took place. The identities of the victims and further details about their church affiliation have yet to be disclosed.
Meanwhile, the House of Assembly member representing Ovia South West in the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Destiny Oghayerio Enabulele sent a message of condolence to the families of the victims.
“It is with deep sadness and shock that I learnt of the tragic accident in the early hours of Thursday 29th June 2023 that took the lives of many residents.

On behalf of the good people of Ovia South West Constituency, I wish to convey my deepest regrets and condolences to the families of the victims of this tragic incident and pray the Almighty to give the bereaved the strength and the fortitude to bear the pains of this irreparable loss.
In my capacity as your worthy representative, I will prioritize assistance and support to the bereaved families and the injured in every possible way and at the same time, call for investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the tragic accident so as to implement effective and practical preventive measures with the aim of preventing future occurrences.”
