#ENDSARS: Thugs set three banks ablaze in Lagos

The banks have fallen Victims to the rage of violence in Lagos on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 as they were set ablaze by thugs who took undue advantage of the #ENDSARS protests in the state.

The bank branches  burnt include, GT Bank, Polaris Bank and Access Bank, all on Admiralty Way in Lekki, Lagos.

Business premises, shopping malls and shops have also been looted by suspected hoodlums in the area.

These incidents happened on Tuesday night following shootings by security agents at #EndSARS protesters demonstrating against police brutality at the Lekki tollgate area.

At least nine persons were reportedly shot dead by soldiers at the Lekki #ENDSARS protest ground.

The #EndSARS protests rocking the country have continued for almost two weeks with youths calling for a lasting reform of the Nigeria Police Force.

What started as peaceful protests have, however, been hijacked by hoodlums who have wreaked havoc on citizens and vandalised public assets in Lagos, Benin, Abuja, Ekiti, Jos, Ibadan, Akure, amongst other major cities.

No fewer than three police stations were set ablaze in Lagos on Tuesday.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state to curb the growing violence in the state.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had also deployed anti-riot police officers nationwide to bring criminals to book.
