It was a blaze of glory and encomiums for one of the leading governorship contestants at the APC Secretariat Osogbo on Saturday when unprecedented mammoth crowd from all walks of life welcomes Hon Gafar Akintayo AMERE to flag off his campaign at the Party Secretariat.
Hon. Amere was able to prove cynics wrong considering how the APC Secretariat within and outside was filled up to capacity causing traffic gridlock on Gbongan-Osogbo Expressway on Monday.
The market women, artisans, professionals, the Obas, High Chiefs, students and youths from all the nooks and crannies of Osun State flooded the flag-off ground.
In his statement, Hon Amere said he was highly elated at the crowd waiting for him after traversing the state capital, Osogbo in the morning.
He arrived at the APC Secretariat at 1.30pm to the admiration of his staunch supporters across Osun State.
In his statement on his manifestoes, he laid emphasis to his slogan, ‘’Itesiwaju Osun†which literarily means Continuity of the good works of the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

Amere said, “I was extremely happy to see this mammoth crowd supporting me, I now ask myself, so people can show love to me this way!â€
He went into memory lane on the legacy his late father built and how he was ready to build on it. He said his father; Amere was a core progressive in the entire Southwest and leader of ‘Agbekoya’.
He continued that, if given the opportunity to serve the state, he would build on the good legacy of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola;

 Attend to the plights of the civil servants and pensioners by paying their salaries as at when due.
 Bring about growth and development to the economy of the state.
 Attend to the welfare of entire people in the state.
 Improve on the standard of education.
 Bring about agricultural revolution in the state.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Prince Gboyega Famodun in his address welcome Hon. Gafar Akintayo Amere into the fold of contestants for the seat of governor of Osun State.
He mentioned the sterling qualities of Hon. Amere which includes his loyalty and his commitment to the principles of the party (APC) in the state.
Prince Famodun said, “If you are looking for a core and reliable, committed and loyal progressive that is Amere, I greet you and I wish you all the best in your political aspiration.â€

Although it took combined efforts of DSS, NSDC and the Police to control the crowd, it was nevertheless peaceful without any rancor.
