The 73-year-old grandmother, Iforiti Oloro, who allegedly did the unthinkable in Ondo State by setting her son, Victor, her daughter-in-law, Rachael, and her two grandchildren ablaze eight days ago, is dead.

The septuagenarian was said to have given up the ghost while receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Owo.

About a week ago, Iforiti set her son ablaze alongside his wife and the couple’s two children over an alleged claim that she had been starved of food.

The incident, which had been described as shocking, occurred at Aponmu community in Akure South Local Council Area of the state.

According to sources, the grandmother, who had been labelled a witch in the community, was also affected by the fire but was not taken to the hospital on the day of the incident.

She was said to have been taken to the hospital for treatment five days after she was locked up in one of the rooms by her children.

Iforiti died at the hospital during treatment, as she was said to have confessed to planning to kill only her daughter-in-law, whom she had accused of staving her.

According to a resident of the community, Akintan Akinsola, Iforiti had earlier confessed that she never knew that her son and grandchildren would be affected by her action.

Iforiti allegedly set the house ablaze while the family was fast asleep.

Some neighbors broke into the house through the window to rescue the family of four, after which they were taken to the FMC in Owo.

Upon arrival at the medical facility, the son and his wife died while the children were still receiving treatment.
