In the early hours of Tuesday, 4 November 2025, at approximately 04:30 hrs, a well‑coordinated assault by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists hit Forward Operating Base Kangar in Mallam Fatori, Borno State. The enemy employed armed drones and mortar fire aimed at the base’s defensive positions.

In a Press Release signed by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, six of the terrorists were neutralized by the troops.

Reinforced by the Main Force of the Battalion under Sector 3, the joint task force displayed extraordinary bravery, repelling the attack and forcing the militants to flee.

Close air support from Nigerien Fighter‑Ground‑Attack platforms, followed by Nigerian Air Force and Nigerien Air Force interdiction, inflicted further casualties on the retreating terrorists.

Six terrorists were neutralised. Recovered equipment includes five AK‑47 rifles, eight AK‑47 magazines, 258 rounds of 7.62 mm × 39 ammo, five RPG bombs, four armed‑drone bombs, five 36‑type hand grenades, two bandoliers and one Android phone.

A few members of the Joint Task Force and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) sustained minor injuries and were evacuated by Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) assets; all are in stable condition.

Exploitation of the waterways and surrounding areas continues to track fleeing militants and deny them movement. The MNJTF provided ISR support to keep the ground troops fully informed.

The Military High Command praised the troops for their resilience, courage and professionalism. “The Nigerian Armed Forces remain committed to restoring peace and security in the North‑East through sustained, coordinated operations,” the statement read.
