May We Never Witness Another Amosun In Ogun Again – Former Ogun Gov Gbenga Daniel

Former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has lambasted the immediate past governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun for neglecting the developmental programs he initiated while in office.

Addressing Asiwaju Abdul-Lateef Adedamola-led Ogun state chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) who paid him a courtesy visit at his expansive Asoludero residence in Sagamu earlier in the week, the Sagamu born politician lamented how Sen. Amosun ran Ogun state aground during his 8-year inglorious reign as the governor of Ogun state.

“During my administration, we opened up an Ogun state for investors. We turned Ogun state to a business-friendly environment for new generation banks, multinational companies and small scale business to thrive

“We gave the 20 local government areas in the state autonomy. They executed projects on their own, they received their allocations in full. We didn’t interfere in their affairs. That was the reason why there was massive development at the grassroots during my administration.

“Reverse was the case during my successor’s reign. There was no meaningful development at the grassroots because local government areas were crippled. They no longer have the autonomy, they no longer receive monthly allocations as and when due. Local Government administration was completely dead.

“The needless bridges constructed with taxpayers money crippled the economy of Ogun state in no small measure.

“Ogun state Property & Investment Corporation (OPIC) and Ogun state Housing Corporation were allowed to operate freely. They execute people-oriented projects with the money they generated. Ours is to ask for their proposals and approve them once it will bring development to the state. We didn’t ask them to remit the money they generated into the government account.

“My successor tried to rewrite history by killing my legacies. But, we thank God that our achievements are still there for people to see. May we never witness another Amosun in Ogun state again,” he said.
