Mountain Top University rules β€” A young woman has sparked conversations on social media after revealing some of the strict rules she encountered at Mountain Top University, a faith-based institution owned by the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).

The lady, identified on TikTok as @thelady_precious, said she is an MFM member. Even so, she admitted that several of the university’s regulations surprised her.

She shared her experience in a viral video that has drawn widespread reactions from Nigerians.

According to her, she expected the university to uphold high moral and spiritual standards because of its ties to the church. However, she did not expect some of the detailed rules students had to follow.

“I’m an MFM member, but I was still surprised by some of the rules I met in school,” she said.

She explained that the regulations covered students’ appearance, behaviour, movement, and interaction with the opposite sex.

According to her, students had to dress modestly at all times. Female students also faced restrictions on hairstyles, makeup, and some fashion accessories.

She further claimed that male and female students could not visit each other’s hostels. The university also monitored students’ conduct closely and expected them to uphold Christian values throughout their stay on campus.

She added that attendance at spiritual activities formed an important part of student life. The rules, she said, aimed to encourage discipline, moral conduct, and academic excellence.

“Some of the rules really shocked me, even though I already knew MFM is a strict church,” she added.

Although she accepted that every private university can set its own rules, she admitted that adjusting to some of them was not easy.

The video quickly attracted thousands of reactions. Many social media users said the rules were not surprising because Mountain Top University is a Christian institution with clearly defined values.

Others argued that students choose to attend faith-based universities willingly. For that reason, they said students should expect to obey the school’s regulations.

Some commenters, however, described a few of the reported rules as too restrictive. They questioned whether such policies still suit modern university life and called for a balance between discipline and personal freedom.

Several former students also joined the discussion. Some defended the university’s approach, while others shared similar experiences from their time on campus.

Like many faith-based universities in Nigeria, Mountain Top University enforces a code of conduct rooted in its religious beliefs. The institution promotes modest dressing, discipline, and Christian values as part of its educational philosophy.

The viral video has continued to fuel debate online. While some Nigerians praised the university’s commitment to discipline, others argued that students should enjoy greater personal freedom.
