The black market exchange rate today shows a wide gap between Nigeria’s official and street currency markets. Traders quoted the dollar near ₦1,327 at the official window, while black-market dealers charged as much as ₦1,390.

The Central Bank of Nigeria calculates the official rate through the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market. That window last settled around ₦1,326.84 per dollar. Analysts say improved dollar liquidity and stronger external reserves have kept the naira firm at this level in recent weeks.

Black-market dealers, however, continue to charge a premium. Buyers paid roughly ₦1,380 to sell dollars and ₦1,390 to buy them on Monday. That gap of about ₦63 shows how far the black market exchange rate today still sits from the CBN’s benchmark.

The pound and the euro also traded at a premium in the parallel market. Dealers priced the pound near ₦1,877 and the euro near ₦1,596, tracking the dollar’s black-market strength.

Other major currencies followed the same pattern. The Chinese yuan, Canadian dollar, UAE dirham, Saudi riyal and South African rand all traded higher in the parallel market than at the official window, reflecting the naira’s broader gap across the board.

Crypto markets moved in a different direction today. Bitcoin held steady near $84,300, extending a rally that has lifted the coin from below $63,000 in August. Traders now watch $87,500 as the next resistance level for the month.

Ethereum and other major coins also posted gains. Analysts linked the move to renewed investor confidence and easing geopolitical tension in the Middle East, which lifted risk appetite across global markets.

The naira’s performance will remain in focus this week. The CBN continues to intervene in the official market to narrow the gap with parallel-market rates, while external reserves and remittance inflows shape the currency’s next move.
