“Never call me a Yoruba actor”, Nollywood star Adeniyi Johnson

One of the porpular and industrious actors in the Nollywood industry, Adeniyi Johnson had an interview with SEYE KEHINDE and stressed he doesn’t want to be called a Yoruba actor.
Adeniyi Johnson was born on February 27, 1978, in Lagos. The actor’s family was not too rich or poor, he did not enjoy excessive luxury but was always given all the important things he needed. He studied mass communication in the Polytechnic of Ibadan, and then studied international relations at the University of Lagos.

Adeniyi Johnson rise to fame came after his role in the television series Tinsel. He has also showcased his talents in lots of Yoruba and English movies; the fact that he can feature in both aspects of Nollywood has enabled him take part in a variety of diverse projects.

Adeniyi Johnson who was formerly married to Nigerian actress Toyin Aimakhu (Toyin Abraham). Their marriage held on July 8, 2013; they parted ways in 2015 following accusations of adultery said,
“I am not a Yoruba actor. I am a Nollywood actor. I was never a Yoruba actor. I have never been a Yoruba actor. I have been a Nollywood actor. I do English films. I do soap operas. I do feature films. I do a Yoruba films also. So, why tag me a Yoruba Actor? You see me in English films. I can mention 10 of my movies that have gone to the cinemas so why call me a Yoruba actor. I am a Nollywood actor. An African actor as a matter of facts.”

From all indications, Adeniyi Johnson prefers to be called a Nollywood star.
