Appraising Nigerian Women

I have to start somewhere.

Nigerian women are more industrious, more hardworking, more intelligent than men. I stand to be corrected.

Nigerian women are powerful and multitasking but they always pretend not to have these unique qualities in order to rely on what their men put on the table. I was told women have one ministry, that is, ‘ministry of spending their husband’s money’, even if they earn more.

Most times when they mean to say NO, what comes out is YES vice versa.

Any man that wants to do without women is at his own peril. Money and women are necessary evil, it will be a life threatening game for anyone to do without them.

Are you a man or a husband reading this piece, take good care of your woman, love her, respect her, assist her in all areas she needs your assistance.

Don’t turn her to your punching bag, if you do, your entire life is on her palm, if she uses it against you you are gone forever!

But loving as our women are, their love for one another is scary, if not, why is that we have not seen the first woman governor or president in Nigeria?

They have the power but unable to use it for their own good.

The highest numbers of voters in Nigeria are women yet still submit the keys to their ignition to men who continue moving and controlling them to and fro as they wish.

Women in Nigeria do not need to fight for any gender equality, the weapon is already there for them, all they need is unity of purpose and team spirit, they are there already.

I empathise with our women, those whom you have, even as your platonic friends either in secondary or in the university; their name changes once they get married. I feel for them, you can no longer trace them anywhere even in the social media with their maiden names for recognition.

This has now made me to have an unwritten rule in my family, any of my daughters getting married in future should add her father’s name before her husband’s name (eg. Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu). It is a rule. I can not give my daughter away with my name.

I remember my sweet mother of blessed memory, as we celebrate INTERNATIONAL WORLD WOMEN’S DAY today.

Our women are kind, they are compassionate and loving.

I pray for all women reading this that somebody else shall not take your place on your glorious day. Your position shall not be vacant anywhere your treasures are. You shall live to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
