THE Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke was on Thursday said he was misquoted over his comments on the Election Petition Tribunal Judgement in Osun State on BVAS and over-voting.

In a statement signed by the HOD, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, Adewale Francis available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, he said the case is still in court, therefore, REC could not have said there was over-voting.

According to Adewale,

“Aware that the matter is before the Electoral Petition Tribunal and therefore subjudice, and the REC only explained the efficacy of BVAS as a device for the accreditation of voters when he visited the Palace of Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olawale Akanbi, the Telu 1.

Any extrapolation to the contrary is outside the context of the statement and should be disregarded.”

He concluded that media should always verify the source of their information.
