He made this known during a one-day strategic leadership workshop organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Osun State Chapter, held at the Nurses House in Osogbo.
Barr. Akintola reiterated the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to improving the healthcare system by employing more professionals to fill existing gaps. He commended nurses and midwives for their dedication and for providing quality care to the people of the state, including retirees.
Speaking on the workshop’s theme, “Inspire, Influence, Innovate,” the Commissioner described it as timely, emphasizing that leadership in nursing is driven by passion and purpose, not just positions. He stressed the vital role nurses play as the backbone of the healthcare system.

She emphasized the importance of leadership in mentoring, advocating for improved working conditions, and upholding ethical standards.
Chairman of NANNM, Comrade Waheed Olaide Oyeyemi, said the theme was carefully chosen to address the need for continuous knowledge development among nursing leaders to ensure effective service delivery in their various roles.
In his goodwill message, Elder Dosu Adedayo, Vice Chairman of the Hospitals Management Board, underscored the importance of integrity in leadership. He stated that without strong and ethical leadership, progress in the profession would be hindered.
