The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the incident that occurred in Akoko area of Ondo State where the convoy of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) was attacked was carried out to ignite crisis “to make it look like they’re being intimidated and harassed.”

“PDP thugs attack Governor Akeredolu convoy in Oba-Akoko while he was on his way to Ikare-Akoko for campaign rally.
The only plan of Ondo PDP ahead of the forthcoming election is to provoke the APC and cause crisis just to make it look like they’re being intimidated & harassed.

“With 23 days to the governorship election, tension is currently brewing in Ondo State following the attack on the convoy of Governor Akeredolu by political thugs suspected to be loyalists of the candidate of the PDP, Eyitayo Jegede.”
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) claimed the attack on him was meant to assassinate him.
