Philip Agbese Tinubu insecurity resignation calls — Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against renewed calls for his resignation over insecurity in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Agbese dismissed the demands as unfair and politically driven. He insisted that the President continues to take active steps to strengthen national security and support ongoing military operations.

Furthermore, the lawmaker reacted to growing public concern over kidnappings, terrorist attacks, and violent crimes across several states. While he acknowledged these challenges, he argued that resignation calls do not offer a solution.

“Those calling on President Tinubu to resign are not being fair to the realities on the ground. The insecurity we face today is the result of years of accumulated challenges,” Agbese said.

In addition, he explained that Tinubu inherited long-standing security problems. According to him, the administration has continued to support the armed forces and intelligence agencies with resources and policy backing.

“The President has demonstrated commitment to addressing insecurity. He has consistently supported the armed forces, approved necessary interventions, and encouraged security agencies to intensify operations against criminal elements,” he added.

Moreover, Agbese highlighted recent security operations across the country. He noted that troops have disrupted criminal networks, neutralised terrorist leaders, and rescued abducted victims in several regions.

As a result, he urged Nigerians to support security agencies rather than politicise national security issues. He stressed that unity remains essential in the fight against insecurity.

“This is not the time for politics. Instead, it is a time for national unity and cooperation,” he said. “Security is everyone’s responsibility, and we must collectively support efforts aimed at restoring peace.”

However, Agbese also acknowledged the pain of families affected by violence and kidnappings. He said their concerns are valid and deserve attention.

Still, he maintained that removing the President would not solve the underlying problems. Instead, he called for sustained cooperation between citizens and security agencies.

In the same vein, he urged Nigerians to provide useful intelligence to security operatives. According to him, timely information helps prevent attacks and improve response operations.

Meanwhile, Agbese criticised some politicians for allegedly exploiting insecurity for political advantage. He argued that such actions distract from real solutions.

Finally, he expressed confidence in the administration’s security strategy. He encouraged Nigerians to remain patient while government efforts continue to address the crisis.
