The Chief of Defense Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas had the extension of their tenure in office approved by President Muhammadu Buhari today.
However, the duration of the extension was not specified as at the time of filing this report.

The approval was confirmed by the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, who noted in a statement by his Public Relations Officer, Colonel Tukur Gusau, on Monday that the President extended the tenures “having carefully reviewed the ongoing military operations across the country.â€
There were speculations that the president might want to appoint new Service Chiefs that would reflect the Federal Character of the country but with the new development, this might be on hold for now.
