President Mugabe’s gluttony for power and Bob Marley’s Lyrics

President Mugabe’s gluttony for power and Bob Marley’s Lyrics at 1980 Independence in Zimbabwe.
The late Reggae superstar, Bob Marley was a special guest invited to perform at the inauguration of Zimbabwe Independence on April 18, 1980. The hit song titled ‘Zimbabwe’ was dedicated to the freedom of Zimbabwe and all freedom fighters from the colonialists.
In the April elections, Robert Mugabe, head of Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) won the majority votes to become the first Prime Minister of Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwean Independence is celebrated on 18 April each year and Robert Mugabe has been at the helm since 1980, precisely for 37 years.

Mugabe still wants to take a shot at the presidency at the 2018 polls. Should he win the 2018 presidential election, Mugabe would be the oldest and longest serving African president in history.
At the ripe age of 93, Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s long serving president has offered himself as the candidate to lead his ruling Zanu-PF party in elections next year. In power since independence from Britain in 1980, Mugabe would be 99 should he win the 2018 election and complete a five year term.
The adage that says; “it is good to leave the stage when the ovation is loudest” did not apply to President Robert Mugabe.
Has Zimbabwe been liberated? Or is President Mugabe a revolutionary or a freedom fighter as Bob Marley sang in his album?
Any Zimbabwean who were part of the celebrations and still alive today would be able to tell us better if their country is faring better now than then.
We bring to you, this “old school” reggae album by Bob Marley, in memory of the reggae star and the day Zimbabwe was born for your weekend delight.
SONG TITLE: ZIMBABWE (Lyrics)
Every man gotta right
To decide his own destiny
And in this judgment
There is no partiality
So arm in arms, with arms
We will fight this little struggle
‘Cause that’s the only way
We can overcome our little trouble
Brother you’re right, you’re right
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right
We gonna fight, we’ll have to fight
We gonna fight, fight for our rights
Natty dread it ina Zimbabwe
Set it up ina Zimbabwe
Mash it up ina Zimbabwe
Africans a liberate Zimbabwe
No more internal power struggle
We come together, to overcome
The little trouble
Soon we will find out
Who is the real revolutionary
‘Cause I don’t want my people
To be contrary
Brothers you’re right, you’re right
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right
We’ll have to fight, we gonna fight
We’ll have to fight, fighting for our rights
Mash it up ina Zimbabwe
Natty trash it ina Zimbabwe
I and I a liberate Zimbabwe
Brother you’re right, you’re right
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right
We gonna fight, we’ll have to fight
We gonna fight, fighting for our rights
To divide and rule
Could only tear us apart
In everyman chest
There beats a heart
So soon we’ll find out
Who is the real revolutionaries
And I don’t want my people

To be tricked by mercenaries
Brother you’re right, you’re right
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right
We gonna fight, we’ll have to fight
We gonna fight, fighting for our rights
Natty trash it ina Zimbabwe
Mash it up ina Zimbabwe
Set it up ina Zimbabwe
Africans a liberate Zimbabwe
Africans a liberate Zimbabwe
Natty dub it ina Zimbabwe
Set it up ina Zimbabwe
Africans a liberate Zimbabwe
Every man got a right
To decide his own destiny
